612 Howard Street was built in 1907, a six-story building of heavy timber construction, a cast-iron facade and masonry exterior walls. We believe that it was probably a warehouse in its early life that was long-ago transformed into office space. KPa+d has been engaged in a major overhaul of the building’s interior layout, accessibility, electrical, mechanical and plumbing infrastructure and interior aesthetic design to upgrade the building to meet the demands of the contemporary office-market in this part of San Francisco’s downtown. Remodeling of all the tenant-occupied floors and the lobby have been completed; Installation of the new elevator and sidewalk repairs are anticipated to be complete in late spring of 2022.
